Folkestone Fishing Heritage & History Museum Summer Opening

Tucked away beneath the old arches of The Stade, the Folkestone Fishing Museum is back open for the season—ready to share the rich stories of Folkestone’s fishing families who shaped the town we know and love today.

Run by a passionate group of retired fishermen, many of whom can trace their roots back generations to those who worked these very waters, the museum is a true hidden gem. Step inside and you’ll find everything from fishing gear and photographs to heartfelt tales of life at sea.

🧤 Look out for Alan’s well-worn mittens (last used in 1970!) and stories from volunteers like Alan Taylor and Francis Bond, who grew up dreaming of the sea and still carry the spirit of the harbour in their bones.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is a must-visit for anyone curious about Folkestone’s salty past.

🕰️ Open throughout the summer – come by, say hello, and discover a piece of real Folkestone history.

FREE – donations welcome
